Endorsed by Pick Guy Guitar Picks BIOGRAPHY Martyr Art is the embodiment of the true artist who would sacrifice him or herself to maintain the utmost respect, integrity, loyalty and truth to their craft.
Martyr Art was formed in 2004 by Joseph E. Gagliardi III in New Windsor, NY. The creation of the band wa
in direct result of the disintegration of his former band Dislocate (a band that was also founded by Joseph
in Saugerties, NY in 1998), which had garnered accolades for being a wicked live act, especially when sharing
the stage with established groups such as Crowbar, Machine Head and Fear Factory.
Martyr Art was originally intended to be a 4-piece, but once Joseph rediscovered groups such as Faith No More
and Depeche Mode, along with diving head-first into studio production, the concept of Martyr Art drastically
changed from a live band to an acclimation of the analog soul in the digital body.
From that point on, the analog/digital concept was and has been the central ideology of Martyr Art. "Hi.Low.Fi"
(2004), was a collection of demos and the first M.A. release. It was recorded in 3.5 months on both analog and
digital 4-track machines, which gives the release a unique sonic depth. Following "Hi.Low.Fi", Martyr Art has
released three more albums "ABCv1" (2004), "ABCv2" (2006), and "ABCv3" (2009), along with two upcoming
albums in 2011, "Distorted Interpretations" and "Introspection", all of which have been (or will be) released
through iTunes, as part of the CD Baby Partnership Program.
Aside from the extensive discography, Martyr Art has also performed live with established groups DJ
Accucrack and K.M.F.D.M., created the Official Martyr Art Podcast Series, has remixed for State of the Union,
Aesthetic Perfection, 16 Volt and Linkin Park. Martyr Art also lends the talents of production, engineering, foley /
sound design, music and voice acting to the Air Pirates Radio Theater, obtained an endorsement deal with
Pick Guy Guitar Picks (since 2005), works part-time at Hit The Road Productions (a digital media facility) and
currently writes a column for Outsider Magazine, an underground zine which is usually published quarterly.
The sound of Martyr Art is profoundly odd, unique and palatable to a wide range of listeners. Martyr Art inter- weaves the spectrum of sound with the styles of Metal, Funk, Punk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Classical, Synth Pop, Horror, R & B, Industrial, Orchestral, Rock, Pop, Progressive, Tribal, Country, Goth, Techno, World, Avant-Garde and Noise. This acclimation has not only formed the genesis of Martyr Art, but has also forged new concepts and new sounds. The expanding universe of Martyr Art takes you on a journey through the colors and textures of sound. On every album, in every song, within every movement, is another step through the journey of Martyr Art. COLLABORATORS:Trapper Q.
